The teas featured here are made by tea artisans who frequently compete and win in the numerous competitions held in Taiwan's tea-producing regions.
While the teas offered here are not ones that have been submitted and won placements in competitions, they are made by tea artisans whose craftsmanship have been officially recognized through national and local competitions. They reflect signature styles and skills utilized by the winning tea artisans - i.e. a certain taste / aroma profile, a specific way of roasting, level of oxidation, drying and withering, etc.
Please note that the teas offered here will conform more to current taste and aroma profile that competition judges in Taiwan are looking for. This does not reflect positively or negatively on these teas, or non-competition teas. Some of our tea artisans specifically do not enter competitions - they insist on making their tea with a more traditional flavor and aroma profile.
Note: Top placement winning teas are prohibitively expensive and hoarded almost immediately by collectors after the winners are announced. Teas in lower placements are often collectively purchased by the cooperatives/organizations conducting the competition and sold only via special distribution channels.
