Harvest: Spring 2018 Shape: Rolled semi-balls
Oxidation: Medium (~40%) Roast: Heavy / Charcoal
8thGeneration Heirloom is produced by tea maker Mr. Su, an 8th generation tea maker who still lives on top of the legendary Tung Ting Mountain. This tea is unique because it is made according to historical and traditional methods of making and enjoying Tung Ting oolong teas. The tea trees are grown nearby Tung Ting mountain, at an elevation of 700 meters (2297 feet). This tea presents a bold flavor resulting from its higher oxidation level at 40% and the tea maker’s painstaking emphasis on slow charcoal fire roasting in small batches over several weeks.
Medium Roast presents a deep amber color when brewed. It has a strong, almost burnt, roasted flavor without being bitter. The taste is straight and bold, with little complexity from hints of nutty, fruity or floral aromas. It leaves a comforting mild sweetness lingering in your throat.
Note: Even though this tea may be a real treat for experienced TungTing drinkers, please be aware that it may come off as quite strong or powerful for someone unfamiliar to this type of tea. If you decide to try this tea, start by using a smaller amount of tea and/or shorter steeping times.
Note: All our teas are vacuum-packed to guarantee maximum freshness, from the tea makers to your hands.
