It is an original blend, consisting of (1) TUNG TING WULONG Medium Charcoal Roast, (2) TUNG TING WULONG High Mountain Charcoal Roast, and (3) a Tung Ting oolong roasted by famous tea-maker Mr. Zhang. The flavor profile of these teas complement each other with perfect harmony.
Premium Charcoal Roast is defined by its clean distinct roast. Maillard reaction and caramelization of the roast result in a nutty smokey aroma with sweetness and acidity. The strength of the roast is "just right" - not too overpowering nor underwhelming. It works in harmony with the tea's ripe fruity aromas and delicate floral fragrances. After sipping, an exotic honey-like lingering remains in your throat and mouth.
The challenge in charcoal roasting lies in finding that "perfect" balance point. If the roast is insufficient, the end result becomes somewhat muddled flavors. However, if the roast goes too far, the result may be clean but with insufficient complexity.
